I am soo depressed at the moment, but in that hollow way, I don't feel really sad, I just feel nothing, I feel empty. I want to go out for a walk but I can't decide what to wear (pathetic I know). I feel like such a crap person, such a hopeless partner, I'm not loving at all, I am trying but even that seems so bad. I shouldn't be trying should I, it should just be what I am. I thought I had my life all figured out and now I just feel so lost.

The Pope seems to be dying, I wish I was still in Rome to see it, not him die but all the stuff that happens around it, the conclave and all the people praying in St Peter's Square. I can't say I am at all sad, I really don't like this pope, not that I am catholic or even religious, but studying in Rome so much and doing lots of research into the history of the Catholic Church has made me very interested in it all. Pope 'given Last Rites' Vatican City April 1, 2005 - 7:56AM Pope John Paul, whose health deteriorated suddenly on Thursday, has received the Roman Catholic sacrament reserved for the sick and dying, Italian media reported. A Vatican spokesman said he could not confirm the reports, but Church sources said it was likely the Pontiff had received the sacrament, given the precarious state of his health. The sacrament, which involves anointing the sick person with special oils, was once called "Last Rites" or "Extreme Unction". It is now known as the Sacrament of the Infirm. Earlier, a Vatican spokesman said the Pope had developed a high fever because of a urinary tract infection. The news came a day after the 84-year-old pontiff began receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. "The Holy Father today was struck by a high fever caused by a confirmed infection of the urinary tract," spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls said. The pope was on antibiotics. "The medical situation is being strictly controlled by the Vatican medical team that is taking care of him," he said. Earlier, the Italian news agencies Apcom and ANSA said the Pope had suffered an alarming drop in blood pressure this evening. Vatican officials are reported to be increasingly pessimistic about the prospects for Pope John Paul's full recovery from his ailments, with many agreeing that he has entered a new and perhaps final phase of his long papacy. The Vatican sources, all clerics who work in the Vatican, spoke on condition of anonymity today about the mood inside the tiny city-state where the Pope is supreme sovereign. Speaking a day after doctors began feeding the Pontiff via a tube in his nose, they expressed various shades of pessimism. "We are on stand-by for anything," one priest who works in an important Vatican department said. "Hardly anyone thinks the situation will improve but everyone is hoping for a miracle," he said. Doctors yesterday inserted a feeding tube through the Pope's nose and into his stomach to try to boost his strength and help his recovery. "If you add up Parkinson's disease, his age, his previous stomach operations, his breathing difficulties, his digestive problems, it makes for a pretty grim picture," the priest said. Vienna's Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn said the Pope was "approaching, as far as a person can tell, the end of his life," the Austrian news agency APA reported. The Pope has difficultly swallowing because Parkinson's Disease limits muscle movement. He has had a breathing tube, known as a cannula, in his throat since February 24. The cannula is expected to be permanent. The nasal feeding tube is expected to be temporary but if he does not regain the ability to eat normally it may have to be replaced with a permanent tube inserted directly into his stomach. "I know the Pope is very disappointed with the progress of his rehabilitation and would like it to be much faster," said another source, a Vatican monsignor. "This is a new phase in this papacy," the source said, adding the Pope would most likely have to face what looks set to be "a permanent state of precarious health". The source said the Pope was still being briefed on Church business and was able "to communicate both in writing and speaking". Shortly before the feeding tube was inserted yesterday, the Pope dramatically failed in his efforts to speak in public for the second time in four days. But the monsignor said the Pope had been able to speak in private, otherwise he would not have asked for a microphone on both occasions. "Everyone here is worried," said another cleric. All four Vatican sources said the Pope was still lucid and alert despite his physical difficulties. "No-one is trying to pull the wool over his eyes," one of the monsignors said. A Vatican statement yesterday was at pains to say the Pope was still in charge. The statement said the Pope was spending "many hours of the day" in an armchair, celebrating Mass in his private chapel, and was in "working contact with his aides, directly following the activity of the Holy See and the Church". The Pope underwent a tracheotomy on February 24 in Rome's Gemelli Hospital, where he spent a total of 28 days in two stints in February and March. - Reuters/AP

Urghhh I hate having a cold, it is like you aren't legitimately sick enough to plonk in front of the t.v. and watch movies and midday crap but I have such a bad headache that i can't concentrate properly, so I try to work and then get frustrated that I can't. I just took some nurofen and they worked for all of about 30 mins. I can't bloody work at home either, I got so used to working in libraries in Italy, they were great and really secure so i could leave my computer and stuff there whilst going for lunch, or just fro more books, whereas as here all the libraries are completely unsafe.
I can't wait to be finished studying, no idea what I will do after that, but I still can't wait.

I really like the prints and drawing sthey have out at the moment, lots of Goya and the Delacroix prints after Goethe's Faust, and some William Blake. Very nice, and free, if you are in Melbourne and reading this you should go, I reccomend

then I hkept seeing shoes I wanted to try but I couldn't because my fkxcstsjufu boot was stuck on ME
grrrr, got it off at home though.
Plus yesterday I fell on my ass in Hairy Canary, how embarrassing
and later I threw wine all over the sofa at home, hopeless am I ![]()

Bah nothing much going on this Easter. Went out on Friday with E and some of her friends, was really nice night, just drinking beers and chatting. Did some shopping on Saturday, I needed a new bra because my boobies have shrunk a bit since I lost weight
stilll the bra is tres pretty!
My mum came around for afternoon tea yesterday which was loverly and I tried to help her with her new digital camera, I hope I was helpful I ave a tendency to figure it out for myself and then not teach very well ![]()
I have sort of been bumming around this weekend as mr mneme doesn't feel too good and I promised that we would spend time together, it is fine but I feel a bit cooped up and need some exercise so I might walk to the Botanic gardens and back this afternoon. This morning I must finish my progress report which is going about this well ![]()

Last night was o.k. pretty low key really, it was meant to be cocktails but there weren't many happening, nevermind. Just bumming around today, trying to get back into writing my thesis, I am having structural difficulties Going out with E tonight should be good, her friend (or more maybe not too sure) is Italian so I can chat about Italy stuff, yay! Maybe even speak some Italian, though E doesn't speak any so maybe not. Me and mr mneme are o.k. at the mo, though he isn't coming out tonight and I'm not sure whether it is because he is really tired, as he says, or just annoyed at me. I am still getting over having a big fight on Wednesday, no screaming match or anything but we never fight, well we didn't used to. I wanted to have a fun Easter togethr but now he won't come out, and I'm not letting myself fall back into the habit of never going out anywhere and never seeing my friends, like I have been for the past few years.

Had a nice day yesterday, family dinner and caught up with people. Mum had presents for me inclduing a necklace she bought whilst we were in Venice, from the glassworks on Murano, it is so pretty. I also raided her wardrobe for clothes from the early 70s, got a thai silk orange mini dress, a white top with bell sleeves and I have my eye on a cool sheepskin jacket when winter arrives. Yay for mums who keep their old clothes ![]()
Bored them with my photos
I should make up a selection of the most exciting ones. I want to get some printed too.
Back into work today, well uni work. Tidying my study, go into uni, join the gym, maybe go to the library. Yay so exciting
ah well. I should try and email some people at the school, see how the exhibition went and all, hear about beautiful Rome.

Sigh I have ahad a pretty good last few days, caught up with my best friends, which is great usually I take forever to catch up with people after a big trip. Very fun. Still feeling a bit confused about being back. Last night was funny, had a quasi school reunion for the school I was at in year 9 and 10, twas o.k. Tonight Ro came over and mark made yummy lasagne and then afterwards he and I went to Hairy Canary for cocktails. All good, and such nice weather, loving this sunshine. Still I feel as though things aren't quite right between me and my boy, there is all this tension where there wasn't before.

Well mucked around today, should be unpacking but I am slack, I am also feeling all strange timewise, not jetlagged so much more so the evenings being lighter longer. I am enjoying the nicer weather though.
Bought a new cardigan from sportsgirl today, all glittery and blue and lovely
Met my man for drinks which was nice, at least I can feel even with all the strangeness we are still really close friends.
Checked out my savings today and I may well be able to head back to Italy this summer to see some gardens, very exciting.
I want to get a job too, not really sure what though.

So I'm home and its o.k. I suppose. Don't really want to be here though. I cried when I got home and mark got really mad
he thinks I don't want to be here anymore, he doesn't trust me anymore either
well he probably shouldn't either. I think I want to leave everything.
I miss my friends in Rome, I miss Rome, I miss speaking italian, I miss so much.
I miss feeling secure in my life, I miss feeling happy with my relationship but I don't know how to get it back.

Just bumming around here, it is nice.
Can't believe I am going tomorrow, doesn't seem real, I can't believe what the last 4.5 months have been. So many things have happened, I have been to so many places, I have done so many things I never would have imagined, I have changed so much, I have so many beautiful new friends, I feel so lost about my life, my heart feels different, I have no idea what going home will feel like.

Had the bestest night last night. Cos it was my last Saturday we went out for pizza so I could have 'carciofini' artichoke pizza and a beer
Then we went for drinks, first a really expensive hotel with this crazy decor, sort of 1920s imitation Baroque, one of my friends described it as a bit Stanley Kubrick. Then we went to a more modern bar with excellent cocktails, yum! Then to this dive bar, called Bar 99 for some beers, haha it is such a bad bar but we go there so often we all have this strange affection for it, well I do anyways.
Then home, nice night, up this morning for phone calls.
Might go out and do something soon, when I finish my packing

What a day yesterday was! It was someone's birthday so we organised a little trip out of Rome in this little minibus. Wel;eft at about 2pm and stopped first at an Etruscan amphitheatre, it was so stunning, actually carved out of the rock, and now really worn away. We ate cakes there too. Then we got shown a tiny church carved inside a cave with 13th century frescoes painted directly onto the rock. Next we stopped at the Villa LAnte at Bagnaia which has this amazing agrden and the it was about 4-5pm and the light was amazing on all the buildings and scultpure and plants. Then we wandered around trying to find ffod and eventually bought pizza and huge bottles of beer. Our next plan was to go to some hot mineral springs nearby at Viterbo but the first ones weren't looking all that good and the second ones had this guy trying to illegally charge us $40 each to get in so that was no good. So the guy who was doing the driving, who is Italian, said there were some great ones in Tuscany, so we were all like 'bugger it! lets go to Tuscany!' So we found them and they were amazing a big waterfall with terraces full of hot water, and buy the time we got there it was about 8pm so it was really dark and we could see hundreds of stars. there was no where to change so we all sort of stripped off in public, it was dark though! We spent about an hour in there so nice with bubbles and warmth mmmm. Then we got out and it was soooo cold, like about 2 degrees. So we all got dressed so fast and modesty was flung to the winds. Then we found an amazing restaurant in a tiny town and had dinner and didn't leave till about midnight. It was about a 3hr drive back to Rome so to help the driver stay awake and because we were all slightly tipsy and silly we were singing songs all the way back to Rome. So fun!
